Welcome to DzikoSoft Excel Gaming Forum!

DzikoSoft website was launched to prove that Excel is not only an office application but also powerful game development platform. In my Excel Games Library I collected more than 130 Excel games from all over the World. You can find them here:

http://www.dzikosoft.com/gmexcel/library.html

GMEXCEL Section comprises several essay regarding VBA game programming and the current state of Excel Gaming in general. Any contributors are welcome:

http://www.dzikosoft.com/gmexcel/

In this General forum, you can post your comments regarding existing games, discuss an idea for a new game, report new games and let us know about funny Excel projects happening elsewhere. You can also ask for help if you have troubles running a given Excel game. However, detailed discussion about VBA code should take place in "Developer’s Lair" section.

Have a good time browsing our Forum!

I decided to update this thread whenever I add a new games to the Library (but if you want to comment on a particular game, please make a separate topic in this forum).

Today I added two games by Mitchell William Cooper (forkandbeard)

  • GaddergU II
  • Miner Derek in the Quanpora Mine

Miner Derek is an attempt to capture the spirit of classic Roguelike games in Excel using ASCII characters. GaddergU is a compact dodge-em-up arcade aslo using simple character set - I like the concept of this one, it has some addictive potential. Have a good time playing these new games  Smiley

Two updates within two days - that rarely happens  Smiley

Today I added Stuart Farrington's RPG "Jungle" (the very first unfinished version). This is unusual Excel game from the technical viewpoint, with the extensive use of images and photographic backgrounds. The combat interface is done nicely in the style of Japanese RPGs. This is also the biggest Excel game so far hosted on DzikoSoft (1400kb) - definitely worth a download!

Today I added three games:

  • Nick Vivian's Noughts and Crosses and 4 In a Row - nice version of classic Tic Tac Toe and Connect Four games. Nick has also interesting competition regarding 4 In a Row game on his website.
  • Kirk Bolen's XL GOES BERZERK - (cool title  Wink)- pixel-cell technology impementation of old arcade - shoot nasty robots while wandering through the maze.

BTW: My Excel Games Library is approaching 150 titles...  Smiley

Puerto Rico Evolver by Tony Mitton

This is Excel version of very popular strategy-trading board game. You can play with friends, against computer oppontes or "evolve the game" for virtual players. You can also watch the game of computer players to learn how to play. A huge workbook, thousands of lines of unprotected code - a really impressive piece of work!

The first new game in the Library in 2010 is Barrett Williams' Pit Fighter.

This is quite interesing duel (fighting?) game - I put it under Strategy section, but it's definitely unique in its style. Maybe in the future we will see other fighting games, like turn-based Excel Mortal Combat  Grin

Just refreshed the Library, listing two games from Kirk's webiste: Missile Command and Artillery Duel. Both are very cool, and Artillery Duel reminds me of great classic from the 1990s - Scorched Earth - I spent so many hours playing this game with friends in my high school  Smiley
